Suspects in Baton Rouge boy’s murder pleaded not guilty

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Suspects connected to the Baton Rouge drive-by shooting death of an 8-year-old boy pleaded not guilty in court Monday.

Yancey Jarrell, Tremell Harris, Roger Parker, Kendrick Profit, Brianna Crump and Yarnell Crump pleaded not guilty to charges.

Harris, Jarrell, Parker and Profit were formally charged with first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and illegal use of weapons during a crime of violence. Profit was also charged with obstruction of justice.

Brianna and Yarnell were charged with accessories after the fact to first-degree murder and five counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Diellon Daniels died from his injuries after a shooting on Swan Avenue in November 2024. Police said his mother and her five children were hit by gunfire multiple times during the drive-by.

The district attorney’s office confirmed that all defendants except for one are currently in custody. An arrest warrant has been issued for Demarcus Parker.
