Saints reportedly hire Doug Nussmeier to be new offensive coordinator

NEW ORLEANS—The New Orleans Saints have a new offensive coordinator, and he has ties to the black and gold.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier today that the Saints are hiring Doug Nussmeier to be their new offensive coordinator under first-year head coach Kellen Moore.

Nussmeier was Moore’s quarterbacks coach in Dallas (2020-2022), Los Angeles (2023), and last year in Philadelphia for the Eagles’ championship run.

Nussmeier played quarterback and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL Draft.

His son, Garrett Nussmeier, is the starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers.

Doug Nussmeier last served as an offensive coordinator on the college level where he helped Alabama to a BCS National Championship win in 2012.
