Bossier hosts trap and skeet shooting sports league

BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS)— A ‘clay target shooting sports league’ this upcoming trap and skeet spring season, and the registration deadline is fast approaching, according to the hosts Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office (BPSO), clay target shooting is one of the fastest-growing school sports. The Sheriff’s Office encourages junior high or senior high schools to register for the spring 2025 program, which is slated to begin in early March.

“This program is a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, practice safety, and have fun in a supervised and supportive environment,” says BPSO.

BPSO underscores to be eligible for the shooting league, participants must be:

  • At least 12 years old (7th to the 12th grade)
  • enrolled in a Bossier Parish Middle or High School,
  • Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing,
  • the student is required to supply their equipment and
  • Must have a state-approved hunter safety card or attend a firearm safety class the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office provides.

They posted via social media that they extended the registration deadline to February 28th.

The 2025 Spring Trap and Skeet Season will be at the Bossier Sheriff’s Shooting Sports Complex, 2860 Old Plain Dealing Road, Plain Dealing, La.
