They’re still on a roll, on roller skates.
As WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood places his order in Amite, they’re ready to call the roll for schools across Tangipahoa Parish.
With every sip at SONICS in Amite, Kentwood, Hamond and Ponchatoula, a Louisiana teacher gets to drink in some new knowledge.
It’s the drink called Sweet Louisiana Sunshine, inspired by the state song, “You Are My Sunshine.”
“Teachers matter, simply because, they ignite curiosity,” said middle school math teacher Kenyetta Johnson.
Money made from every drink goes to sending teachers from Louisiana all the way to Atlanta, to a school that teaches teachers creativity and how to bring the outside world inside the classroom.
“It sparks their interest and helps them understand why we are learning,” said fifth-grade teacher Jaquita Williams.
The drink deal of the day goes through the end of August.
