Globecast Overhauls Singapore Hub For Cloud, IP Workflows

Globecast has completed a major renovation of its Singapore facility, transforming it into a cloud-centric, IP-enabled hub serving customers across the Asia-Pacific region. The project follows the recent opening of the company’s Westlake Village, Calif., site and advances its strategy to modernize operations around hybrid, software-defined media workflow.

Originally built more than a decade ago for traditional linear broadcast, the site has been reconfigured around cloud processing, IP connectivity, and centralized monitoring and control. Core areas — the Technical Operations Center, Master Control Room and Playout Control Room — were redesigned to improve efficiency, flexibility and scalability, while reducing and optimizing physical space and reliance on legacy hardware.

As a hybrid environment, the facility supports both traditional broadcast services and next-generation IP and cloud workflows. It remains a key point of presence in Singapore, providing connectivity, teleport services, playout and media management for hundreds of channels and services across the region. The upgrade also improves the working environment and is designed to accommodate future growth, including increased network capacity and strengthened cybersecurity.

“This project went beyond simply upgrading infrastructure,” said Chris Pulis, Globecast CTO. “By integrating cloud, IP and advanced monitoring capabilities into a unified environment, we have an operations base in Asia that is more efficient, adaptable and prepared to support the next generation of media services across the region.”

The nine-month effort was led largely by Globecast’s in-house engineering teams, overseeing design, migration and implementation, and was completed without service disruption.

“The Singapore upgrade marks a significant milestone for Globecast in the Asia-Pacific region and reflects how we are evolving our operations to meet the demands of today’s dynamic media landscape,” said Biliana Pumpalovic, managing director of Globecast Asia. “We have transformed the facility into a more agile, cloud-centric environment that supports both legacy and next-generation workflows. Most importantly, we accomplished all of this while maintaining 24/7 services for our customers.”

Globecast will welcome customers and partners to tour the upgraded facility on May 19 ahead of BroadcastAsia.
