A little over a year after Workday announced that SNG had selected its Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Workday Financial Management solutions, SNG has gone live on both. With PwC’s help, SNG has built a modern digital foundation for its 3,000 employees. The first phase of the project was completed on time and without any reduction in scope.SNG is one of the UK’s largest housing associations. It manages 85,000 homes in the South and South West of the UK and continues to grow. Recent projects include the completion of 56 affordable homes in Stevenage, planning to build 90 affordable units in Bristol and a contract with The Hill Group to build 154 social rent homes in the London Borough of Brent, all within the last week.
Working in an increasingly complex regulatory environment made it important to integrate its HR and Finance applications. Under Workday, it has now achieved that, and business leaders now have a better view of the business, its people, and its financials. The deployment will also allow the business to spend more time optimising processes across the organisation and delivering better value to the communities they serve.
Kevin Ives, Chief Information Officer, SNG. “Moving our core HR and finance operations to Workday is a huge step forward for our organisation. Working hand-in-hand with PwC and Workday, we have successfully delivered this crucial first phase of our transformation. We now have a robust, unified system that vastly improves the daily experience for our colleagues, providing us with the sturdy groundwork required to evolve and better serve our communities.”
SNG Phase One complete
The first phase of the SNG project went live in April. It consisted of the following modules:
- Core Human Capital Management (including Absence Management, Core HR, Compensation, Onboarding, and Cloud Connect for HCM)
- Help
- Core Financials
- Projects
- Time Tracking
- Expenses
- Procurement
- Payroll for the UK
- Journeys
- Recruiting
With Workday Core HR SNG, SNG now has a single platform to help reduce and eliminate manual processes across the organisation. The platform is intuitive, enabling staff to complete tasks quickly and easily. With all finance and data on a single platform, leadership has visibility across the business. It can identify skills gaps and strengths across the workforce to make better strategic decisions in a timely fashion.
Ultimately, this should help SNG create an even higher-performing workforce within the constraints of financial prudence. The implementation of Workday Finance enabled the SNG finance team to deliver results more quickly through streamlined accounting processes.
Althea D’Lima, Workforce Transformation Partner, PwC, said, “Delivering a transformation of this scale requires a shared vision and a profound commitment to the end goal. By combining Workday’s unified platform with our implementation expertise, we have helped equip SNG with a resilient, future-ready environment that will accelerate their strategic ambitions.”
What is coming next
The project is not yet complete. SNG will continue to work with PwC and Workday to deploy more modules across the organisation. The next phase of the project will include the following modules:
- Talent Optimization
- Financial Planning
- Workforce Planning
- Strategic Sourcing Expert
- Peakon Employee Voice
- Learning (and Cloud Connect for Learning)
SNG plans to complete the work over the next six months

Daniel Pell, Vice President and Country Manager, UKI, Workday, commented, “When it comes to mission-critical work, organisations need a deterministic foundation that provides consistent, auditable outcomes. By bringing HR and Finance together on Workday, and in close partnership with PwC, SNG can operate with greater certainty and speed.”
SNG’s transformation reflects the power of the Workday partner ecosystem. Workday’s transformative technology, combined with PwC’s deployment expertise, enabled an efficient rollout that delivered business value without disruption. Having gained more experience with the Workday platform, SNG is looking beyond the first two phases. It has already developed use cases for Workday Prism Analytics and is currently exploring the best way to roll it out across the organisation.
What about AI
The announcement did not mention the AI components that Workday has added to its platform in recent months, several of which it showcased at a recent event in Dublin. Enterprise Times asked Workday about the potential deployment of Agentic AI at SNG.
The response was, “As the system is not yet one month old, SNG hasn’t enabled the AI solutions yet, but is exploring how best to do this over the coming months. The robust and focused AI roadmap was one of the reasons for selecting Workday, and the ability to enhance the core platform capabilities using some of the company’s recent acquisitions is also being evaluated.”
For SNG and other companies wanting to learn more about Workday’s solutions and AI capabilities, including the recently announced Sana from Workday, Workday Elevate is being held on May 14 2026. The event is already fully booked, but interested prospects and customers can sign up for a waitlist. It is also holding an Executive Connect event in parallel, and registrations are managed separately and are not included in the waitlist.
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
That SNG has agreed to a press release so soon after the go-live for both Finance and HR, demonstrates confidence in the project’s success. PwC has revealed its ability to successfully deploy a complex project in a relatively short timescale without disrupting the business. It is a testament to PwC’s expertise, the robust implementation processes, and the SNG team’s willingness and commitment to deploy the new solutions.
This is a project we are likely to hear more about in the coming months, both from Workday and PwC. It will be interesting to hear about the challenges that were met and overcome to complete the project. Judging by the information read by Enterprise Times during its research, it has had its challenges. All three parties will have contributed to another successful Workday deployment.
PwC’s transformation of SNG reflects the power of the Workday partner ecosystem. Workday’s transformative technology, combined with PwC’s deployment expertise, enabled an efficient rollout that delivered business value without disruption. If Workday follows up in a few months, it will be interesting to hear the quantitative benefits that SNG has realised from the project.
