Planetcast Expands Hybrid Broadcast Toolkit At NAB Show

Planetcast rolled out enhancements to its hybrid broadcast portfolio at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, now through April 22, in Booth W3028, emphasizing greater flexibility, tighter integration and more efficient workflows across playout, IP distribution, content management, OTT delivery and monetization.

The company said it is evolving its in-house platforms — MediaHQ, Contido, CloudX, ReCaster and BATS — from standalone products into a unified, end-to-end operating framework that brings together content management, playout, distribution and monetization to help media companies operate more efficiently.

Planetcast supports more than 450 channels globally, reaching 1.3 billion viewers through 50+ media brands.

ReCaster, Planetcast’s IP-based signal transport platform, now supports hybrid deployments using SRT, RIST and UDP and can deliver live content with about 2.5 seconds of latency across distributed environments. It supports SPTS and MPTS workflows, as well as mixed-mode operations. Planetcast said more than 50 customers in Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean use ReCaster.

In a real-world deployment, beIN SPORTS Asia Pacific is using CloudX and ReCaster to scale live sports workflows across APAC, supporting more than 40 simultaneous live events during peak periods, managing 18 linear and 24 OTT channels across 12 markets and maintaining 99.99% uptime for playout and delivery.
