Juspay has announced a strategic global agreement with Sabre Direct Pay, a division of Sabre Corporation. Sabre Direct Pay enables businesses to offer secure, automated and integrated payments with unmatched access to an extensive list of partnerships that you won’t find anywhere else in the travel payments industry. Juspay is the latest partner to join what is an extensive list of payment options.Juspay will add its cutting-edge payment orchestration technology to the options that Sabre’s travel platform provides customers. It is an important development for Juspay as it looks to grab a share of the travel bookings market. As a leader in the sector, Sabre is the ideal partner to help it gain a larger share.
Research from Phocuswright identified that “global gross bookings are expected to increase from $1.6 trillion in 2024 to $1.72 trillion in 2025, marking a steady, but slower growth rate as the market matures.”
The research firm estimates that online travel bookings will rise from $1.0 trillion in 2024 and climb to $1.2 trillion by 2026 (approximately 65% of the market). Retaining those bookings online means delivering frictionless payment methods to consumers.
This joint venture aims to improve conversion rates, support local payment methods, streamline cross-border settlements, and enhance the overall customer experience.

Patricio Boccardo, Managing Director at Sabre Payments, commented, “We’re building critical infrastructure that empowers agencies, airlines, and suppliers to operate more efficiently and confidently in every market.
“The industry is choosing Sabre Payments because we deliver higher conversion rates, reduced fraud, and streamlined financial operations.”
Making a difference in travel booking payments
Juspay will bring its network tokenisation approach to reduce fraud, maximise revenue, and enhance the user experience on the Sabre platform. Juspay intends to integrate its tokenisation solution into Sabre Direct Pay. The resulting solution will improve security and the efficiency of travel payments. Network tokenisation enables airlines, hotels, and booking engines to process transactions seamlessly without handling credit card data.
The result is the modernisation of travel payments worldwide, with a frictionless experience for end users that drives conversation, enhances security, and improves the customer experience. Merchants can offer local payment methods via the Juspay platform, which already integrates with over 300 payment processors. Juspay highlighted several other benefits, including:
- Access to local payment methods
- Faster go-to-market enablement
- Optimised cross-border payments
- Seamless checkout experiences
- Intelligent promotion engines
- Streamlined reconciliation across multiple sources
Sheetal Lalwani, Co-founder & COO at Juspay, said, “As digital payments evolve, travellers expect fast, secure, and seamless checkout experiences. By partnering with Sabre Direct Pay, we aim to bring smart, scalable payment solutions to the global travel ecosystem, helping businesses unlock new opportunities and deliver superior experiences worldwide.”
“Travel payments are the backbone of the entire travel ecosystem. At Sabre, we’re redefining what’s possible by bringing together speed, security, and true global scale. Our agreement with Juspay is an important step in delivering sector-specific orchestration solutions that address the complexities travel companies face every day – from local payment methods and regulatory compliance to multi-currency settlements and instant, secure transactions.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Cart abandonment in travel bookings is higher than in many other industries. According to Baymard Institute, the average cart abandonment rate is 69.99%. However, in the travel industry, it is 82%. Anything that makes the payment process frictionless and presents local payment options that consumers are familiar with is likely to help reduce that statistic.
While there is work to be done on the integration, it will be interesting to see how this impacts Juspay’s growth. The firm recently announced 61% revenue growth in FY2025 and also saw strong profitability. Its transaction volume also rose from 175 million to 300 million over the last year. The new partnership with Sabre Direct Pay and others recently announced with HSBC, Super.money and Mastercard should help continue that growth trajectory in 2026.
