Minneapolis police arrest 65-year-old in connection Wednesday night homicide

A 65-year-old man is believed to be behind a shooting that killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday evening.

Minneapolis Police said they were called to the 2600 block of West Broadway for a reported shooting around 5:46 p.m.

After officers arrived, they said they found a woman who had been shot; she was later declared dead at the scene.

Police said the woman had been inside an apartment with a 65-year-old man, who they said fired a gun, striking and killing her.

The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was arrested and is being housed at the Hennepin County Jail.

A knife and a firearm were collected by police inside the apartment. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
