4DWN is a resilience hub. It’s on the divide between a prominent area and an area that lives in disparity. They help spread resources, opportunities and access. That can take the form of food, music nights, art shows, skating lessons, or so much more.
They hand out more than 150 boxes of food each week. The group says 40% of food goes to waste so they wanted to change that. They’re a closed loop food system – they have a compost, growing facility, cold storage, and a large variety of other things. Volunteers make this possible. The staff all started as volunteers and worked their way up – many of them single parents.
He says they always find ways to get skateboards and lessons to those who need it or want to try the sport. To find out more about the long list of ways 4DWN gives back, click here.
