HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old for allegedly bringing drugs to school on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

According to TPSO deputies, Ryan Brown Jr. was booked on one count each of possession of schedule II drugs, violation of drug-free zones, resisting an officer and obstruction of justice.

TPSO deputies said that Brown allegedly “threw several packs of pills out of the car” before he was taken into custody. A field test on the pills reportedly confirmed traces of opiates, heroin and possible fentanyl, according to TPSO deputies.

Deputies placed Brown under arrest when it was determined that another student was not involved and was unaware of Brown’s alleged attempt to run from deputies. According to deputies, that student was issued an unrelated summons.
