Only 1 in 4 Americans Support Trump’s War on Iran, Reuters/Ipsos Poll Shows

Americans don’t trust President Donald Trump when it comes to foreign policy, a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed Sunday reveals.

Only 27 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s military attack on Iran. This includes 9% of Democrats, 19% of independents, and 55% of Republicans.

A majority of Americans, 56%, are also unhappy with Trump’s use of military force. This includes 87% of Democrats, 60% of independents, and 23% of Republicans.

President Trump announced Monday that the war in Iran could last weeks, and that if necessary the U.S. military has the “capability to go far longer than that.” The U.S. and Israel have continued to pound Iran since assassinating its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday, while Tehran and its allies have hit back against Israel, neighboring Gulf states, and targets critical to the world’s production of oil and natural gas.
