Pilot Pantry helps LSU Shreveport students fight hunger

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — As some SNAP benefits begin to expire, LSU Shreveport is stepping up to help students facing food insecurity. The university’s Pilot Pantry is open to all LSU students and offers free perishable and non-perishable food items.

LSUS Communications spokesperson Matt Vines said the Pilots’ Pantry is open to all students enrolled in the university. They can shop for various food items by using their student ID. Students may visit the pantry once per week and get up to 100 pounds of food per month.

First-time visitors to the Pilot Pantry should be prepared to complete the intake form and waiver.

“The university, we understand that you know we wanna remove all possible obstacles to obtaining an education,” said Vines.

The pantry is open Monday and Tuesday from 11 am until 2 pm and Wednesday and Thursday from 1 pm until 4 pm. The LSUS Pilot Pantry website has more information.
