Odessa City Manager David Vela resigns, no reason given

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Odessa City Manager David Vela submitted his resignation to the City Council in Tuesday’s meeting, just five months after he was hired.

Vela, who previously served the cities of Sweetwater and Abilene, began his role with the City of Odessa on June 2nd, replacing previous City Manager John Beckmeyer. His last day will be October 31.

No reason was provided for his departure.

City leaders said Assistant City Manager Aaron Smith will serve as acting city manager.
