Dry weather Monday before fall front arrives Tuesday
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Sunshine fills the sky Monday with mild temperatures. Highs reach the lower 80s with only a cloud or two. Tonight, skies remain mostly clear as temperatures drop into the 60s. Most of the day Tuesday will see plentiful sunshine as temperatures climb into the 80s once again. A fall front arrives in the evening hours brining scattered storm chances. Behind the front, much chillier air arrives.

In the tropics, Hurricane Melissa has reach Category 5 status. It will drift towards Jamaica over the next 24 hours bringing destructive winds, flooding rains, and dangerous storm surge. Melissa will be the strongest hurricane to ever make landfall in Jamaica. From there, it will head northward to Cuba before hitting the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas, eventually heading to Bermuda.

Locally, we will see nice weather to end the week. Morning temperatures will drop into the 40s with afternoons seeing sunshine and highs in the 60s. Our temperatures moderate as we head into the weekend, with mornings in the 50s and afternoons in the 70s.
