According to the Westfield Fire Department, around 10:15 p.m., crews responded to a home on Amberleaf Trail for a residential fire.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews reported that they saw flames through the roof of the home. It took crews nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze, and they were able to protect neighboring properties from damage as well.

The home where the fire began sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage, but no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

Investigators indicated that the homeowners were alerted of the fire by working smoke alarms, which “played a critical role in their evacuation,” WFD reported.

Fire crews are reminding residents to check and maintain their smoke alarms regularly.

The cause of the fire in Westfield remains under investigation.
