Spook the Blocks event brings Halloween to downtown Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Downtown Rockford was transformed into a festive Halloween scene on Saturday afternoon during the 10th annual Spook the Blocks event.

Children dressed in a variety of costumes, ranging from Spider-Man to a Starbucks drink, participated in the event, collecting candy from local businesses.

Rick and Sheila Black from Sheila’s Daiquiri Lounge expressed their enjoyment of the event, noting the positive interactions with children.

“It’s very enjoyable. Like I said, to see the kids out and the smile on their faces and they come in,” Rick said.

More than 30 downtown businesses participated in Spook the Blocks, offering candy and hosting activities such as pumpkin painting and book giveaways.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for businesses to engage with the community while offering family-friendly fun.
