Ironton community welcomes new dog park

IRONTON, Ohio (WOWK) — While summer is over, it’s still warm enough to visit Ironton’s brand new dog park.

Sitting just near the base of the Ironton-Russel Bridge, the park has plenty of room to play fetch along with some brand new agility equipment.

Locals spent the past several years demanding a dog park in their community, and Ironton Mayor Sam Cramblit was happy to deliver.

“We’re grateful for this, that we can have a spot for our residents and tri-state residents to bring their dogs and enjoy community together. We used to come down here and throw balls, kinda where the idea came from in the first place. That’s what made me think, ‘why not this area?'” Cramblit said.

Nearly all of the park’s equipment is made of re-used or recycled materials.
