BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Willis Knighton Bossier has been named a Blue Distinction Center (BDC) for Spine Surgery by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, recognizing its expertise in patient safety and quality outcomes.

The Blue Distinction program identifies hospitals and surgery centers that meet rigorous standards developed in partnership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Designated facilities report 28% fewer readmissions and 29% fewer complications within 90 days after surgery.

“This designation reflects our team’s dedication to clinical excellence and compassionate care,” said Jaf Fielder, president and CEO of Willis Knighton Health, in a news release. “It’s an honor to have our spine surgery program recognized on a national level.”

To earn the designation, facilities must meet criteria including:

  • Accreditation from a national accrediting organization
  • Low complication, mortality, and readmission rates
  • Enhanced recovery procedures for quality perioperative care
  • Participation in Louisiana Blue’s BlueCard PPO Network

The Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, launched in 2005, helps patients identify trusted, high-quality providers in specialized areas such as spine, cardiac, cancer, and maternity care.
