Jason Waguespack, President of Film Louisiana, said a delegation from the state traveled to the movie capital to convince studios that “Louisiana should be at the top of the list for filmmaking locations.” They hosted Crawfish Étouffée & Cocktails on October 15, bringing a pinch of Louisiana flavor and hospitality to Hollywood.
Waguespack shared a lookbook, presented to studio heads, featuring landscape and location photography along with brief descriptions. He also highlighted Act 44, which extended the state’s film tax credits to include workforce training. An incentive that will continue to grow the large talent pool of industry professionals within Louisiana.
He also noted several independent projects currently underway in St. Francisville and New Orleans, as well as a feature film slated to start production in early 2026 in Baton Rouge.
G-Unit Film and Television, piloted by rapper, businessman Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, was also mentioned in the Louisiana Film presentation. Waguespack said the production company has two reality shows currently underway and a feature project scheduled for 2026; however, he was unable to provide specifics about the G-Unit projects.
All told, Waguespack painted a picture of the industry as bright, saying, “Louisiana continues to modify and adjust to attract productions and is consistently at the top of the list” for filmmakers looking to take advantage of the credits and unique landscape.
While there is no centralized database for film professionals looking to join production crews on upcoming projects, he said Film Louisiana will do its best to post information on social media to point prospective crew members in the right direction. He also said the Louisiana Economic Development will start posting information to help people more easily learn about available work.
