LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) — A Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Deputy has been fired and arrested, authorities said.
LilPaul Williams, Jr., 26, of Lake Charles, is charged with malfeasance in office and injuring public records.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives began an investigation in September of a report of a theft of a credit card and funds at a local business in Lake Charles.
Investigators said Williams was the responding deputy on the call and collected the initial information and evidence for the case. Williams is alleged to have intentionally left out information on the case due to previously knowing the suspect. It is also alleged Williams failed to turn in evidence submitted by the business pertaining to the theft.
Williams was fired by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory today.
Prior to being terminated Williams worked as a patrol deputy and had been with CPSO approximately two months, officials said.

“When I was elected Sheriff, I took an oath to uphold the law, and that is exactly what I’ll do, even when it involves on of our own deputies,” Guillory said. “Like I have said before, our deputies are held to a higher standard, and they will be held accountable for their actions. No one is above the law, including those who wear a badge.”
Williams was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. His bond is set at $175,000.
