SPC outlook: Today’s long-range outlook from SPC does not show any severe risk, but they do mention that the disturbance that will be moving through the southern plains will likely bring some risk. We will know more about the extent of this risk and possible impacts later in the week.
Storm timing: Futurecast shows storms developing to the west of our area on Friday and moving across the area Friday night into Saturday morning. The rain will likely end from west to east on Saturday evening and Saturday night.
Heavy rain possible! Our biggest concern from these storms could end up being heavy rain. While Futurecast shows that most of the area will receive at least 1” of rain, with some locations getting 2-3”
The Blend of Models shows heavier totals of two to over 4” with the best chance of seeing more than 4” over the northern quarter of the area.
Weather Worry Index 3 out of 10: As of right now, I’m expecting a marginal to slight severe weather risk with the late week storms. While the extent of the severe risk is rather uncertain, the threat of heavy rain will put the WWI at 3 out of 10. Stay tuned!
