WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is chatting with her at her college alma mater, Southeastern Louisiana University.
She’s in Louisiana to cut the ribbon at the new broadcast media center which has her name.

“It means more to me than my name up in lights in Time Square on Broadway. To have it here, on the campus in Hammond, America,” said Roberts.
It adds an additional 33,000 square feet to the 80,000-square-foot academic building and includes three broadcast media studios.
Also a newsroom, a film studio and a multimedia studio.
Roberts, herself, helped pay for this with a sizable donation.
“I want them to leave and have in their hearts that anything and everything is possible,” said Roberts. “When they look at my story and how I was rooted to rise, that they have that within them as well. I just want to be a messenger to tell people that the message is ‘I can reach the goal that I have set for myself’.”
