HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — WGNO crews were in Hammond on Friday, Oct. 17, on the campus of Southeastern University where Good Morning America host Robin Roberts came home for a special occasion.

Roberts, a 1983 Southeastern Louisiana University graduate, returned to campus for the opening of the “Robin Roberts Broadcast Media Center.” This is a new renovation project at D. Vickers Hall.

She says she hopes the center will inspire students to dream big.

“Everybody has a gift. Discover yours and share it with the world. I’m so grateful that I have been allowed the opportunity to share a gift with my Southeastern family and I have to say it is good to be home,” said Roberts.

The newly constructed space added 33,000 square feet to the already 80,000 square foot hall and will now house:

  • A news studio
  • Sound stage
  • Multi-media studio
  • Control rooms
  • Audio production space
  • Foley space
  • Open classrooms with editing stations
  • Computer lab
  • Public speaking classrooms
  • A/Z supply area

Roberts adds that the new facility exceeds all her expectations, but the most important part is all of the students who will learn inside the building.
