Homeowner uninjured after car crashes through roof of Nashville home: ‘I was being watched over’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two people were injured after a car crashed through the roof of a home in Nashville over the weekend, according to officials.

The accident took place just after 8 a.m. Sunday.

Homeowner Jennifer Pittman told Nexstar’s WKRN that her entire house shook when the vehicle crashed and became lodged in the roof, its front end extending down into her bedroom.

She was in her living room with her dogs shortly after waking up when the crash occurred. Neither she nor her dogs were injured.

“This was my grandfather’s house before I moved in, so I just feel like I was being watched over,” Pittman said.

Pittman told WKRN that her road is known for dangerous driving, and she hopes changes will be made to improve its safety.

“People use the center lane as a race track,” she said. “We have a going joke, ‘Who’s going to get hit head-on first turning into our driveway?’ That’s how bad it is, so something definitely needs to be done.”

No additional information was available about two people who were reportedly in the vehicle during the crash. Officials who spoke with local outlet WSMV, however, said the driver of the car had suffered a broken neck, and is facing charges including reckless endangerment and driving under the influence.

The outlet had also reported that the driver hit an embankment at a high rate of speed before going airborne.

The car was removed from Pittman’s roof Sunday.
