Officers responded to the crash Friday night on I-24 near the Haywood Lane exit. Investigators initially told News 2 that the crash involved four vehicles, however, officials later clarified that the crash involved two motorcycles and a sedan.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, a Suzuki motorcycle operated by 26-year-old Terrell Robins Jr. of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, crashed into the back of a Nissan Versa. The Nissan driver reportedly lost control of the car and swerved, striking a Honda motorcycle driven by a 20-year-old man from Georgia. Authorities said both men were wearing helmets, and none of the drivers involved showed signs of impairment.
Robins was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. The 20-year-old was also taken to VUMC to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the deadly crash.
