Cloud coverage was extensive and kept some areas from warming up. The official 68-degrees at O’Hare and 69-degrees at Midway were a handful of degrees warmer than the 64-degrees which is typical for this date.
It’s been a rather impressive string of days with milder than normal temperatures. Counting Monday, 32 of the last 34 days have posted a daily temperature surplus.
Only the modest temperature deficit that occurred on back to back days October 8 and 9 have been what’s otherwise been a nonstop run of warmer than normal days that spans more than a month.
Monday U.S. Highs and Departure From Normal
Highs up and down the Midwest were warmer than normal with cooler than normal temperatures along the East Coast and across the northern Rockies where an early wintry chill gripped some areas, including Billings, MT where the high only reached 36-degrees.
