MELVILLE, La. (KLFY) — An armed standoff in Melville has brought out the St. Landry Parish SWAT team, officials said.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz has confirmed the SWAT team is currently working a situation with a barricaded suspect in the town.
Local police were investigating an incident involving the suspect, who then ran, stole a firearm and allegedly shot it from within a mobile home on Forrest Street near Walnut Street, authorities said. Drones are on scene, as are crisis negotiators and family members, to attempt to get the suspect to surrender.
