SPRINGVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — Police arrested a Springville man after discovering he was allegedly driving under the influence with his wife and two young children in the vehicle.

Logan Westering, 34, has been arrested and faces several charges. Among them are two counts of endangerment of a child, driving under the influence (second offense in 10 years), two counts of driving under the influence with a passenger under 16, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance. He has yet to be formally charged.

According to the arrest statement, on Oct. 12, 2025, officers with the Springville Police Department observed a truck turn into the gore of the roadway on Highway 89 and fail to maintain its lane of travel.

The officers ran the license plate of the truck and found that the owner had a suspended driver’s license due to a DUI offense, documents say. Based on the suspended license and traffic violations, the Springville officers stopped the truck at a gas station.

Westering, who was reportedly driving the vehicle, provided his ID to the officers. Inside the vehicle were his wife and two children under the age of five. The police asked Westering to step out of the vehicle to perform a field sobriety test.

As Westering got out of the truck, the Springville officers observed that he had “droopy eyes, swaying, and restlessness,” documents say. A pill bottle was seen on the driver’s seat, and police seized it.

He consented to performing the sobriety tests, and officers claim that he showed signs of drug influence and impairment.

After the tests, Westering allegedly asked if he had “passed,” and when officers told him he had signs of impairment, he admitted that he had consumed “some beer at Oktoberfest,” and was “struggling with some addiction issues” regarding drugs and medications.

Westering was arrested, and his truck was impounded. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a container of marijuana near the children’s carseats in the back of the truck. Syringes that tested positive for methamphetamines and heroin were allegedly located on the floor near the driver’s seat.

Inside the pill bottle seized from Westering, police identified dextroamphetamine, a drug used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and alprazolam, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders.

A urine sample taken from Westering allegedly tested positive for opiates, THC, methamphetamines, benzodiazepine, and amphetamines. Documents say he was convicted of DUI earlier this year.

Westering was booked into the Utah County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail.
