Red Line trains delayed ahead of rush hour

CHICAGO — Commuters are facing some delays ahead of rush hour on Tuesday morning after Red Line trains were halted due to an unauthorized person on the tracks.

According to the CTA, at 4:50 a.m. Red Line service was temporarily suspended between 95th/Dan Ryan and Garfield due to an unauthorized person on the tracks at 79th/Dan Ryan.

As a result of the incident, Red Line trains are only operating between Howard and Garfield currently.

To accommodate passengers, the CTA is providing shuttle buses between 95th/Dan Ryan and Garfield.

Additionally, the CTA suggests riders consider alternative options, including the nearby bus routes #29 to State, #75 to 75th and #79 to 79th.

Currently, it is unclear how the individual ended up on the tracks and how long delays are expected to last.
