Two felons arrested for alleged illegal gun possession

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreveport police have arrested two convicted felons in separate incidents this week as part of ongoing efforts to keep firearms out of the hands of those prohibited from having them.

According to a news release from the Shreveport Police Department, on October 9, 2025, officers stopped 21-year-old Jonathan Tucker while he was driving a stolen vehicle. Police say Tucker was also carrying a firearm despite being barred from possessing one. His previous convictions include aggravated cruelty to animals, motor vehicle theft, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and sexual battery.

A day later, on October 10, 2025,  officers contacted Robert Stegall, who they say was found with drug paraphernalia and several weapons. Investigators say Stegall, a convicted felon with a prior narcotics conviction, now faces three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The department said removing guns from convicted felons remains a key part of its strategy to reduce violent crime and prevent future offenses, according to a news release.
