Updates given after two Pennsylvania Troopers shot in Franklin County
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Officials provided an update on the condition of the two Pennsylvania State Police Troopers who were hospitalized after being shot in Franklin County on Wednesday evening.

One Trooper has been released from WellSpan York Hospital; however, the other Trooper remains hospitalized in serious condition, a spokesperson for WellSpan said around 12 p.m. Thursday.

State Police were chasing retail theft suspects when they eventually were able to stop the fleeing vehicle southbound on I-81 at Exit 3 in Antrim Township, right by a Sheetz, after 6 p.m. Two women inside the vehicle got out and complied with Troopers’ commands.

However, a man inside the vehicle opened fire at Troopers, hitting them. Troopers returned fire, killing the gunman, according to State Police. The identity of the man killed in the shooting has not been released at this time.

The injured Troopers were flown to WellSpan Hospital. Their identities have also not been released at this time.
