Light rain and drizzle are expected to stick around parts of the Bay Area on Thursday as a weak weather system lingers along the Northern California coast, according to the NWS.
A surface trough stretching from Northern California to the Central Coast is keeping skies mostly cloudy, with light rain across the North Bay lasting through the night. Coastal areas from San Francisco south to Big Sur will also see periods of drizzle through the morning and early afternoon, forecasters say.
A stronger low-pressure system off the Pacific Northwest is expected to move inland during the night into Friday, sending a cold front through the region. Overnight temps are projected to dip sharply, particularly dropping into the mid-40s in the North Bay. Higher elevations along the Central Coast could also fall into the 40s by early Friday.
Cooler mornings are expected to continue into the weekend, with gradual clearing and drier weather ahead, according to the NWS.
