FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) – West Virginia State Police have identified a North Carolina man who was killed in a hit-and-run on the West Virginia Turnpike last week.

According to WVSP, Jack Walter, 63, of Middlesex, North Carolina, was outside his disabled vehicle when he was struck by what they believe to be a white tractor-trailer.

Troopers say they are still searching for that tractor-trailer.

The incident happened near the 63-mile marker of the West Virginia Turnpike just north of Westerly in Fayette County.

The crash temporarily shut down the Turnpike while authorities investigated the scene.
