Man accused of killing Morehead mother, daughter indicted

MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) — The man accused of a double murder in Rowan County was indicted on Friday by a grand jury on two counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Joshua Cottrell is accused of killing Kayla Blake and her 13-year-old daughter, Kennedi McWhorter, back in September inside their home on South Spring Street in Morehead.

He appeared in court on Sept. 29, where his public defender entered a not guilty plea.

Cottrell remains in the Montgomery County Regional Jail on a $1 million bond.

Court records show his arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 21.
