Case against Morehead man accused in teen’s death moves to grand jury

MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) — The case against a man charged in the shooting death of a Rowan County teen moves forward.

Gildardo Martinez is charged with killing his girlfriend’s son, 15-year-old Luis Lopez, and injuring the teen’s sister.

Police say on July 20, Lopez was trying to protect his mother from Martinez when he was shot.

Martinez is charged with murder, first-degree assault, and attempted rape.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The case has been sent to a grand jury.

The next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 11.
