WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah (ABC4) — A Washington Terrace man has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting another driver because he “thought he was being followed.”
Robert Christopher Pabon, 52, is charged with one count of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, with a road rage enhancement.
On Oct. 3, 2025, according to court documents, a deputy with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a reckless driver in Washington Terrace. When the sheriff’s deputy arrived, a witness explained a road rage incident that had taken place.
The witness stated that he was in the passenger seat of his friend’s — the victim’s — vehicle, and his friend’s child was in the backseat. While on the road, a black Honda Civic pulled out in front of them and stopped, forcing them to stop as well.
At this point, the driver of the Honda got out of his vehicle and approached the witness on the passenger side, allegedly making threats. The victim got out of the driver’s seat to “de-escalate the situation because [his] child” was in the car.
The witness told the sheriff’s deputy that after he got out of the vehicle, the victim was suddenly on the ground, and the other driver was holding what looked like a crowbar in his hand. The witness got out of the car to help the victim.
After the assault, the other driver allegedly got back into his own vehicle and sped off with his trunk open, the weapon visible inside. The witness recalled a woman in the vehicle with the aggressor.
A video the witness took showed the Honda driving away with its trunk open and captured the license plate. The sheriff’s deputy performed a records check on the plate number and found that the vehicle belonged to Pabon, documents say.
A resident who lived nearby provided footage that showed the Honda Civic during the incident, and captured a woman putting a crowbar in the trunk before getting into the vehicle with Pabon and driving away.
The victim sustained an injury to his ear that caused it to bleed, and had wounds on his knee and wrist. Documents say that doctors were performing a head scan on him while the sheriff’s deputy was at the hospital.
Law enforcement then responded to Pabon’s address, and allegedly saw that the black Honda Civic from the videos was in the driveway. Pabon spoke with officers and told them that he “thought that he was being followed” and “confronted the driver,” according to court documents.
Pabon allegedly admitted to striking the driver with a wheel lock, claiming he had heard the victim or witness mention something about a firearm. His wife brought the wheel lock to the officer and said that she had taken it out of the car when they got home because she “thought the police would be asking for it in the future.”
Pabon was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail.
