WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A St. George man has been arrested and charged after allegedly throwing items at a woman’s vehicle while driving and threatening her with bear spray.
Robert Paul Haket, 64, has been charged with one count of threatening with or using a dangerous weapon in a fight or quarrel, a third-degree felony with a road rage enhancement; one count of assault, a Class A misdemeanor with a road rage enhancement; and an infraction for littering.
On Aug. 23, 2025, according to court documents, an officer with the Washington City Police Department was sent to the intersection of Weatherby and Washington Fields Road. When he arrived, a woman and her child reported that “an elderly male” had “brake checked” her and “thrown items such as bottles and a baseball” at her vehicle.
The woman sent the officer videos of the elderly male driving ahead of her, and stated that he had even allegedly pointed a canister of bear spray at her while they were stopped on the roadway.
In the video, the officer reported seeing the man “flipping off” the victim before reaching into his vehicle and throwing two bottles out the window.
The Washington City Police officer searched the area of the incident and found a plastic bottle as well as the shattered remains of a glass bottle. While searching, he also reportedly located the baseball the woman had mentioned.
Using the videos of the vehicle, officers were able to locate the “elderly man,” who they identified as Haket, the following day for questioning. He was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail, where he is currently being held on bail.
