Another tropical storm could bring late-week rain to Southern California

Another tropical storm could bring late-week rain to Southern California
Forecasters are calling for mild conditions early this week, but there is a chance of rain reaching Southern California on Thursday and Friday.

An upper-level low-pressure system over the west is expected to keep temperatures at or slightly below average to begin the week. “As you head inland, you’re going to see a little bit more of that sunshine and warmer weather,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Monday morning.

But on Thursday, “there is a big wrinkle” in the forecast, the National Weather Service (NWS) says. Tropical Storm Priscilla will bring a 15 to 20% chance of rain to Los Angeles County.

“Notice how our chance of showers Thursday and Friday also comes on the two days with our warmest conditions. So, that is a southerly push,” Henry said. “This is some of that subtropical moisture that bubbles in from the south … Kind of the setup we had just over a week ago.”

Drier and cooler conditions are expected to return for the weekend.
