In a statement, Ory called recent claims made on The Public Opinion Court, suggesting that Lacy’s death was the result of the DA’s actions, “deeply offensive” and “misleading.”
Ory said the DA went beyond her required duties by conducting an independent investigation rather than relying solely on findings from the Louisiana State Police. According to Ory, that decision uncovered discrepancies in the police report that could have changed the outcome of the case.
In an interview, Ory shared more details about the deadly crash that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall. Ory said Lacy passed four cars, but data shows that Lacy was over 70 yards behind Hall at the time of impact.
“This is exactly the kind of leadership we should expect from our District Attorney: a commitment to justice, regardless of external pressure or any narrative being pushed,” Ory said. “Her decision to independently verify the facts ensured that the investigation was thorough and properly handled.”
Ory said the DA’s efforts were focused on transparency, fairness, and professionalism, saying that she “acted with the highest level of integrity” throughout the process.
He said that the DA’s administration followed through on its promise of a “swift but thorough investigation,” which ended in a grand jury proceeding once the review was complete.
Ory commended the DA’s dedication to justice, saying her work “should set the standard for how justice is pursued.”
