Former APD officers arrested for malfeasance

ALEXANDRIA, La. (La. State Police) —  In July 2025, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) requested the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division – Alexandria Field Office (LSP-CID-AFO) to investigate two former APD Officers for multiple use-of-force incidents.

Based on the investigation and information obtained, Detectives determined that former APD Officer Austin Butler and Dylan Tritle committed acts that were beyond the scope of their official duties. On October 2, 2025, Troopers arrested Butler and Tritle for malfeasance in office. Butler was also charged with one count of simple battery. Both were processed at the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for the above charges.

The Louisiana State Police will serve as the lead investigative agency. The investigation will be submitted to the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution. No further information is available at this time.
