TPD releases results of joint enforcement campaign

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Police Department released the results of an enforcement campaign that worked with eight local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

The TPD made a total of 70 arrests from Sept. 17-19. The TPD cleared 40 felony warrants, 33 misdemeanor warrants and filed 40 new felony charges and 21 misdemeanor charges, according to a press release on Oct. 1.

TPD Commander Jerry Monasmith spoke on the importance of community partnerships and the shared goal of public safety in Topeka and Shawnee County.

“These proactive enforcement efforts reflect the strength of our community partnerships and our shared commitment to keeping Topeka and Shawnee County safe,” Monasmith said. “Together with residents and partner agencies, we are making our community safer every day. I’m proud of the dedication shown by all and confident that together we will continue building a stronger, safer community for all residents.”

The TPD worked alongside the:

  • Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Lawrence Police Department.
  • Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).
  • Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC).
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • United States Marshals Service (USMS).
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
  • Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
