According to a news release from Amazon, the 1,000,000-square-foot facility is expected to create hundreds of job opportunities in Hancock County. The center is expected to help the company’s ability to allocate large inventory orders through fulfillment centers across the network.
“We’re proud to grow our presence in Hancock County as we continue expanding our Indiana fulfillment network,” said Kyle DeGiulio, Amazon’s regional senior economic development manager. “The Hoosier State has been instrumental in our growth, where we’ve created tens of thousands of jobs and invested more than $25.5 billion since 2010. This latest expansion reinforces our long-term commitment to the region.”
The release said that Amazon has nearly 40 locations throughout the state, including 13 fulfillment and sortation centers and five solar projects.
“The new fulfillment center will help meet increasing customer demand throughout Indianapolis and surrounding communities,” the release said.
