Rockford police arrest driver after pedestrian severely injured

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police officers arrested the driver of a car that severely injured a pedestrian on Sunday night.

According to police, officers were called to 7th Street and 12th Avenue, where they found a 36-year-old man lying in the roadway.

The driver of the offending vehicle, Damarius Bullock, 21, remained at the scene, police said.

During the investigation, police said they found a handgun, ammunition, and marijuana in Bullock’s possession.

He was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon without a Firearm Owners Identification, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Owner’s Identification, aggravated assault, and possession of cannabis.

Bullock was booked into the Winnebago County Jail pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for what police described as “serious injuries.” His current medical condition is unknown.
