Driver, 74, cited for disregarding stop sign in Ogle County crash

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A 74-year-old Forreston man was hospitalized Thursday after police say he ran a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department, Gary Ludwig was driving a gray Chevrolet Silverado south on North Hollywood Road in Baileyville when he failed to stop for a stop sign at West Green Road, striking a white Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 45-year-old woman from Orangeville.

Authorities said the crash happened at 3:10 p.m.

Both vehicles suffered heavy damage in the crash, police said.

Ludwig was taken to a hospital in Freeport for his injuries, which police said were non-life-threatening.

He was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
