Monster Myths debunking event coming to Milford Lake

JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – An event by the Milford Nature Center and Milford State Park will have spooky festivities, a trunk or treat and a guided tour that will bust myths on Kansas wildlife.

Monster Myths by Moonlight will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the Milford State Park near Junction City. 27 News spoke to Milford Nature Center Assistant Director Katlin Dunsing, who said the event is aimed at teaching about ecological importance and debunking myths.

According to Dunsing, the event will have a trunk or treat, activities near a splash pad, a hay ride up the trail and a tour through stations with costumed guides who will talk about monster myths. She said the guides will talk about various wildlife, including: turkey vultures, spiders, owls, bats and will even talk about Little Red Riding Hood.

Climb aboard a hayride and join the Milford State Park & Milford Nature Center for an evening packed with family-friendly thrills and nature-filled chills!

You’ll meet our costumed presenters and live animal ambassadors along the trail as they bust myths and spill secrets about the wild world around us.

Attendees will need a $5 state park daily vehicle pass or an annual pass for park entry. The trail is about half a mile long, so the Milford Nature Center recommends wearing walking shoes. Parking will be at the South Boat Ramp near the Splash Pad. For more information, click here.
