Man recently released for attempted murder arrested in Vallejo carjacking: PD

(KRON) — Police chased down and arrested a man following a carjacking in Vallejo on Saturday, according to the Vallejo Police Department.

Officers were taking a report from the victim when their stolen Nissan Maxima was spotted on the 1000 block of Fairgrounds Drive.

“Due to the nature of the call, patrol officers attempted a high-risk felony stop,” the Vallejo Police Department said. “Rather than cooperating with the officers’ commands, the driver exited the vehicle and ran from the scene.”

Officers caught the suspect and the carjacking victim identified them as the person who robbed them with what appeared to be a handgun. When officers searched the car, they allegedly found a fake gun that matched the victim’s description of the weapon used in the carjacking. 

Officers also found 16.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine packaged for sale, a digital scale, and unused baggies, police said. A records check showed the suspect was recently released from prison after serving time for attempted murder.

The suspect was booked into Solano County Jail on multiple felony charges for carjacking and narcotics sales. The stolen car was returned to its owner.
