Abilene's K-9 Tipp retires after 7 years of service
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – As K-9 Tipp prepares for a well-deserved retirement, the Abilene Police Department (APD) is reflecting on her seven-year-long career.

Belgian Malinois K-9 Tipp joined APD in 2018 with the Patrol Division, before moving to the Narcotics Division in 2023. Through the years, she has:

  • Seized 3,644 grams of meth, 3,777 grams of marijuana, and 352 grams of dangerous drugs
  • Went on 712 Narcotic Deployments, leading to 325 arrests
  • Removed 51 firearms from Abilene streets
  • Earned multiple awards in USPCA trials

“Tipp has been a beloved presence in the halls of APD, and while we’ll miss her, we’re excited for her to enjoy retirement life at home with her family,” APD shared online. “Thank you, Tipp, for your service!”

K-9 Duke will take over for Tipp in the narcotics division.
