BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 27-year-old man dead Saturday evening.
Officers responded around 7:43 p.m. to the 4600 block of Sycamore Street after a shooting was reported. Police said emergency medical services took Jaray Washington to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
According to the police, Washington was shot while trying to break up an argument. Trevionte Dequone Simpson has been identified as a suspect.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on Simpson’s whereabouts to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
The investigation is ongoing.
