(KRON) — An arson suspect was arrested after their shoe prints matched those found near the scene of multiple grassfires set on Sept. 6, according to the Gilroy Police Department.

GPD said a patrol officer was waved down just before 8:30 p.m. and notified of “a large fire” near the north end of the 5900 block of Travel Park Circle.

“The suspect displayed objective signs of being under the influence and was wearing shoes with a similar print to what was found near the fires,” said police. “During his arrest, Lopez made further incriminating statements that resulted in officers arresting him for the arson.”

Lopez was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail where he also faces several drug related charges.
